Our practice is now a father and son team consisting of David Burgess with his son Robert Burgess. Together, we provide high quality, cost effective legal results with a focus on personable, yet professional service.
David Burgess
Founder & Senior Lawyer
David was born in Vancouver and is a graduate of Simon Fraser University (Political Science 1982). After serving as a legislative intern in Victoria, he graduated from the University of British Columbia Law School in 1985. Following valuable training and experience with a well-established law firm in New Westminster, he moved his young family to Kelowna in 1990.
David has been operating Burgess & Company for 28 years and his practice continues to focus on wills, estates, and estate administration. Outside the office, David is passionate about his national singles tennis ranking, his grandchildren, competitive league softball, and pickleball. He has a lifetime commitment to community service including being a youth coach, regional thanksgiving food drive coordinator, and an active participant in many community service projects.
Robert Burgess

Robert Burgess (Bobby among friends and family) grew up in Kelowna and was called to the British Columbia Bar on February 1, 2022. Robert graduated with a Juris Doctor Degree from Bond University Law School in Gold Coast, Australia in 2019.
Prior to being called to the Bar, Robert worked as a Legal Assistant at Burgess and Company Law Firm for a number of years and is excited to now continue working at Burgess and Company as a practicing lawyer. Robert plans to practice in various areas of law, with a particular focus on wills, estate planning and probate. He and his wife Kaylee enjoy playing tennis, badminton and pickleball and spending time with their three young daughters.
